Poolside (Foam & Frond) is a 6x6 mixed media piece inspired by my botanical Poolside series.
The left side of the piece features a photograph of a palm leaf taken during the cyanotype print process (sun print), which is then covered in resin to give it a smooth glass-like effect. Then on the right side, I've poured white encaustic wax and created a texture using an accretion technique that looks like white foam. The sides are separated by a thin brass strip to add some bling.
The juxtaposition of the colorful, smooth side with the white, textured side creates a visually striking contrast.
